Understanding the world from all angles...

Help Prevent Self-destructive behaviour With ArtOne of Margo's pictures from our trip across Europe.

Strength and dignity are her clothing...

Proverbs 31:25

Author's Note: I have been enjoined from sharing the details of my true romance adventure until such time that the other party is prepared to present her perspective on the affair arrangement...Pointer

When I arrived in Europe on the 20th of June, 2011, I had no plan and certainly no idea that by the end of the week I would be practicing photography with a woman I had never met, a naturist who had never before allowed herself to be photographed nude. It was the first of a whole series of firsts for the both of us.

As an artist inspired by a young woman's struggle with self-esteem and bulimia, body acceptance had always featured prominently in my aesthetic. Having recently discovered naturism and its mantra of body acceptance in the United States, I was eager to explore the style and philosophy of naturist clubs and the beauty of naturist campsites in Europe. By a trick of fate, I found myself first in Bielsko-Biała, Poland. Margo's home.

From America I brought with me the American can-do spirit. She saw the car that I had bought, the terrible camp stove I had borrowed, and my sundry canned goods and challenged me to make-do. In my optimism I assured her that if we lacked for anything I would make up the difference. She assured me that if she lacked for anything she would find her way to the nearest airport and fly home. Luckily that never happened.

There were times during our trip when I thought there might not be a happy ending. There were times when disaster was close and I wondered whether I hadn't made a mistake. I wondered whether fear, anger or sadness might triumph and one of us would have to finished the journey alone. Though I dangled from the cliffs of Normady I was saved. Though the lights went out I rode on. Though I ran the tires down to the wire I was okay. We drove home in one piece. We came home happy. We had started the process of learning how to listen and the sound of it was beautiful. We could be sure that we were ready to conquer the devils that abuse us no matter how long it would take.

During our trip across Europe, Margo very bravely opened up to me and to the camera. It was a difficult thing to do considering the scars that she carries. I wanted to share with the world her often joyful, often sad, often angry but always liberating experience except that the Internet is full of pictures of naked women and men and full of trolls who abuse them.

I realized that what I really need to point out is not the openness that Margo and I cultivated between ourselves, but the darkness that continues to surround us. When I censor nudity, I do so in a way that does not compromise the integrity of the human body. In censoring the photographs that Margo and I took during our trip, I was quick to notice that in those pictures where Margo was at her most open, at her most unguarded and most relaxed, in a word, when she was herself and basking in the sun I was forced to blacken her completely.

Why does our society drive people into darkness? Why can we not accept ourselves as we are? Why can we not accept our bodies? Have we truly become eunuchs? Or are we capable of defying the sickness that pits us against each other? Together we could conquer the devils that abuse us.

Whether you enjoy being nude or not, whether you've been photographed nude or not, but especially if, for you, like for Margo, it's something you never thought you would do, consider submitting your own photograph to be published in a censored manner as a form of protest against the ubiquitous presence of the human body on the internet, naked or not, that is published and duplicated ad infinitum without context and without regard for the identity or the needs of the individual being depicted.

Michal's Dictionary:
Reformed Sermons

Art is the expression of an idea. Often that idea is simply the form of the expression itself, the beautiful or not-so-beautiful shape of an otherwise meaningless gesture. This is decorative art. It encompasses everything from origami to cheap romance novels. It is popular and if you want to put a decorative print on your wall, you can buy one at a place like Ikea.

Most artists with ambition create documentary art, meaning the ideas embedded in their work relate to something beyond the undulations of their expressiveness. Instead of just making a new twist, they try to make that twist seem extra clever. It means something beyond being just a twist. In the most obscene cases, an artist won't even tell you what it means and suggests you figure it out for yourself. No other profession gets away with this. It's like a prostitute who says he's not sure if he does anal.

I try not to be clever. Trying to be clever is what I used to do when I was a child and I wanted attention. I try to be right. I try to discover the truth and pass it along. I try to trust my own judgment.

I've read most of the Bible. It's not a code of laws or something you put on your coffee table because it looks nice. It's one of the greatest documentary works of art ever compiled. When common people started reading it, the Reformation happened. Not everybody read the whole thing, nor did they necessarily understand what they did read, which is why not everything got reformed in the right direction. In their defense though, some parts of the Bible aren't even written in the right way. We all make mistakes. It doesn't mean we shouldn't keep working towards the right reform. That is the idea at the basis of the best art. It's the idea that I'm going to keep repeating because I am too old to be clever.

Samples of Fiction from The Gospel of Jesus H.

A picture of the planet Mars

An experimental science fiction Christology that makes Jesus the hard boiled narrator of his own early years on a bizarro earth made dark by volcanic ash and informally ruled by a man from Mars who sells bottled air.

The armed man who stayed behind said, "No: by dawn, they're going to be dead terrorists." He started to laugh.

Verse 276 from the chapter called Arms

IT IS INFORMED ACCORDING TO ARTICLE 61 STATUTE 4 OF THE ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURE CODE THAT, BY THE REQUEST OF THE SOCIAL BUILDING ASSOCIATION 'EURO' LIMITED-LIABILITY COMPANY, REPRESENTED BY ITS CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD, MR. SIGMUND BARTKOWSKI, PROCEDURE HAS BEEN INITIATED IN THE MATTER OF CONFERRING A DECISION CONCERNING THE BUILDING CONDITIONS FOR THE INVESTMENT CONSISTING OF THE CONSTRUCTION OF A FOUR-STORY ABOVEGROUND RESIDENTIAL-SERVICE COLLECTIVE IN A QUARTERLY ARRANGEMENT, THE CONSTRUCTION OF AN UNDERGROUND OR GROUND-LEVEL GARAGE, AND THE NECESSARY TECHNICAL INFRASTRUCTURE. THE PLANNED INVESTMENT IS LOCATED ON LOTS NUMBER 16,17,18,19/6,19/7, PART OF LOT 19/10 AM-15 IN TREBNITZ AT THE INTERSECTION OF - right behind Jesus's building, where the brick wall joined with the concrete wall: where the people urinated!

Verse 81 from the chapter called Bohemia

"I'm on the list?"

"Yes, you're on the list."

"But what?"

"But you don't have a ticket."

"I'm confirmed, right?"

"Yes, you're confirmed."

"I'm a confirmed passenger?"

"Yes, but you don't have a ticket."

"Can't you print me a new one?"

"No, I can't."

Verses 121-130 from the chapter called Adolescence

SECURITA was corporate. Its chief executive officer was 'commander-in-chief.' Its board of directors included, as a result of the new contract, several deputies from Parliament who belonged to the ruling party. Regional and local operations were mostly controlled by independent entrepreneurs. SECURITA was, in essence, a franchise, this being the secret of its great success. Rich Capitalists were given the opportunity to lead armed men - it was thrilling: a power trip which most Capitalists found very rewarding, both financially and psychologically. It was racketeering in legalized form.

Jesus's plan was two-fold.

Verses 28-29 from the chapter called Security

"I can't believe this," he said. "I have the ticket in my hand and they say, 'It wasn't confirmed.' What the hell's a ticket for if it doesn't get you on the plane?"

Verse 105 from the chapter called Adolescence

Samples of Fiction from Sex for Children

A drawing of a man between a woman's legs in front of another man in a hospital bed

A literature book narrated by a pair of siblings on either side of the Atlantic whose profoundly weird sexual experiences pose a serious challenge to their traditional understanding of mathematicians, marriage, gay young men and God.

But how is a man supposed to love his wife? I suppose the answer is: with as much attraction, devotion, attention, and loyalty he can muster; with affection, attachment and admiration: of course. But is there anything exclusive about their love? Their feelings must be intense: there is no doubt. And their admiration must be very informed.

– Title 3, Regarding a Dream, Chapter 7, The Seventh Day, Part 1, Strength & Security Sector Reform, Section 2, Facing a Choice, Paragraph 17

As for the future between me and Indiana, I will keep you informed. I have no idea what will become of us.

If there is to be a future, I will stay here and make my presence felt. If not, I will return home as soon as possible.

So, in the meantime, dear sister, keep yourself beautiful, and as free from sin as possible.

Yours in Christ, Church, et cetera,

Andrea Stewart

– Title 3, Regarding a Dream, Chapter 7, The Seventh Day, Part 1, Strength & Security Sector Reform, Section 2, Facing a Choice, Paragraphs 25-29

I must not forget that he is also half-Russian, and totally capable of exploiting that angle as well. There's nothing quite like a forceful and rough-spoken Eastern European, especially when you're trying to capture a crowd's attention, hoping that you'll engender in them the appropriate caution, respect, and awe (making sure that their reactions are observed by everyone around you, eager for those feelings to filter down to every individual) until you have just the right timidity, when you can begin condescending to show a gentler edge for their sake, and thereby win them over with your generosity. I wonder whether Nike performed a trick like this with his family, making sure that Luka was close enough to observe his dominance. It might have played a role in the formation of their partnership. Who knows?

– Title 3, Regarding a Dream, Chapter 2, The Second Day, Part 1, Labor & Economic Reform, Section 4, The Male Personality, Paragraph 4

So I ran: across the puddles of the road, along the sidewalk where the herringbone, undulating its miniature landscape of brick, now formed a miniature world of lakes and hills where my foot found its familiar patterns. I, leaping with irregular steps, passed those buildings which not so long ago were fresh in my experience, shuffling past the unconcerned remains of undergraduates - some wet behind the ears, some colleagues from not so long ago - but all now unfamiliar, threatening too from within their institutional shelter, so I had to avoid their faces, and hid my own as much from their imaginary judgment as from the now pelting rain, for I had neglected to bring an umbrella.

– Title 1, Regarding Peaches and Bananas, Part 2, Section 1, Visiting Old Colleagues, Paragraph 3

And then I broke away and went to window. Indiana went to the chair and sat down. After a while, she said, "In this chair: when I am sitting here, I see myself...and I don't like what I see."

– Title 3, Regarding a Dream, Chapter 7, The Seventh Day, Part 1, Strength & Security Sector Reform, Section 1, Spending the Night with a Lover, Paragraph 7

Bullets whizzing by a statue of Nikola Tesla

A collection of stories featuring a sexy Parisian ghost, a spooky Moon base full of vagina-faced aliens, a policeman with an Irish name, a truck full of watermelons, a flautist, and a man who has to see another man about a diseased horse.

"To what?"

"To our own kidnapping. The investigator brought guards from a special armed police unit. They have sub-machine guns."

"How many of them are there?"

"Two. He's got a guy from the local PSB as well. You were wrong about them. They have guns. This one has a nine millimeter."

"Are they looking for me?"

– from “Two Dudes and a Chinese Desert,” a friendship story featuring people who will cut your throat

Dorothea didn't like to talk about it. Her parents had been upstart middle-class Greek converts to an elite Reformed church on Long Island. Her long, thick nose matched perfectly with her high cheekbones and the thick lower lip of her almost symmetrically decahedral face. Her large, green peach-pit-shaped eyes melted many a man's heart. The only thing she hated were her legs.

– from “A Horse Named Clutch Bag,” an inspiring story about family

Nike stuffed the bills into her palms. He wrapped his own hands around hers. He whispered, "I don't believe you."

Barbara squirmed. A phone rang. The sound came from Nike's pocket.

"Your phone," whispered Barbara. She looked pleadingly into Nike's eyes. "It's ringing."

Nike wanted to ignore it. Barbara started wrenching her hands. He had no choice. He let go. He watched the woman squeeze past the shoulders of spotlighted freaks.

– from “Paris Is For Rapists, Too,” a ghost story featuring not-so-beautiful people

The man waddled up like a dog. Tatum removed her feet from the pile of fabric around her ankles. She performed a battement en avant, fully extending her foot. Shaq was mesmerized. He gingerly removed one shoe. The procedure was then repeated.

Shaq placed the shoes carefully onto the tiles. He proffered his hand. Tatum took it. She waded into the water.

– from “Dirty Manga People Are Disgusting,” a spooky story featuring aliens that seemingly every is afraid of

"It carries your most important things," said Nyota. "Whether it's your phone or your make-up."

"This is my clutch bag," said Debbie, squeezing her arm around her husband. Harry Connick squirmed.

Junior turned to Nyota. "I always wondered what those were called. It's a good name. I should give it to my horse. 'Clutch Bag to win.' It's got a nice ring to it."

"You own a race horse?"

Junior nodded. "A few."

"Are they thoroughbreds?"

"Of course."

Chiseled letters from an ancient stone tablet hanging on a wall

A real play. With drama in it. Talk fast. It takes two hours. Set in a guest house. In a small community. After a murder. Lots of suspicion. The characters learn to listen to each other. It's funny.

MS. JACKSON: What in the name of Christ is going on?

KOKOMO: You didn't tell me we were doing it.

GREY GOOSE: He didn't tell me either.

FLETCHER: I thought you knew. I thought you started the whole thing.

GREY GOOSE: I made a mistake.

FLETCHER: I wasn't even informed about the dishwashing machine.

MS. JACKSON: Somebody please tell me what's going on!

GREY GOOSE: Alright.

FLETCHER: Calm down, Mother.

KOKOMO: Please, Ms. Jackson.

– ACT II, lines 421-430

(KOKOMO exits.)

GREY GOOSE: Excellent! The day of reckoning has come at last. For too long now, the crimes of my distant past have tarried and o'er me their shadows cast. Restitution's been made, Heavenly King! Grant that my wife be open to forgive a reformed man, who only wants to live in his own home - not like a fugitive on an island full of gossiping cows, who whisper lies, make innuendo, roll their eyes and giggle nonsense, and yet dole out their judgments as if they were a whole judge and jury. Let them bear witness that no woman will run me out of my own home - even if I have to burn it down!

– ACT I, lines 251-251

FLETCHER: Kokomo is a confirmed Catholic. She was filled with the strength of the Holy Ghost.

ALICE: I didn't know axe-wielding was one of His gifts.

FLETCHER: I'll have to ask my catechist the next time we meet.

ALICE: Are you a catechumen?

FLETCHER: I'm an inquirer. Kokomo is my ever patient sponsor.

ALICE: Was that before she caught you?

FLETCHER: I suppose I wanted her to find it. She has a point, as far as art is concerned. Whatever one thinks of its medicinal uses, it can't cure a lack of imagination.

ALICE: The sensory awareness it provides or the perception of time one experiences under its influence can benefit pursuits like contemplation or flower arrangement.

FLETCHER: What's made you such a passionate partisan? Have you partaken of the peace pipe?

ALICE: Occasionally. It's been more often than that. I used to work for a florist. There was never any reason not to smoke. To be completely honest, I accidentally brought some with me.

Samples of Fiction from Miscellaneous Dingbats

The title of the book at the end of a string of miscellaneous dingbats

A story book full of short fiction stories. An interesting bedtime mystery. A fairy tale. Science fiction romance. Adult life. Uninspiring gay fiction. Horror.

You were probably thinking about it as you lay on the couch. It was after dinner. Albert was in the other room with Father. Indiana and I were on the floor. Mother was on the love seat. Grandmother was in her chair.

Olympia stopped bouncing. She squirmed. She giggled. She drooled. She started bouncing again.

– from “St. Andrew's Eve,” a story of love that may calm one's sense of distaste depending on your outlook

Something drains from above. It is my comrade. She pours in through the hole of my skull. We are together again. I open my bags and pull out memories for us to share. She in her ink-stained petticoats. Me adjusting my stockings. We have just pressed five thousand copies of Workers Unite. We are hot to pleasure ourselves.

We will honor every struggle with a voiceless laugh. We will be happy to be here. We will find a way to live again. We embrace.

– from “Shovels Fall,” an interesting story about the cycle of armed struggle throughout history

The general continued. "Reports of our agents in the Perseus arm confirm the possibility that forces of Scutum-Centaurus are assembling within the shadow of the galactic core. Their presumed intention is to make further raids into the open clusters that border the near end of the bar. Rumors of a so-called hypersphere capable of transporting infinite mass via the brane strings are just that. Rumors. The Orion Star Alliance has concluded that Scutum is not planning further incursions into our territory. Nevertheless the military is on high alert. Dark matter mining will continue to increase. All projects confirmed within the last two galactic arc-seconds will be subject to review and possible suspension. That is all."

– from “Titan's Reign,” a science fiction story that absorbs all hope even when it's traveling at light speed

Branca lives in California now with her husband. Her old torch-bearer, Fr. Rebelo, lives outside Boston. I'm not sure when they last saw each other but it couldn't have been long ago. Rebelo does weddings for the family. He just did one for Lima child number ten. I don't remember any of their names. In fact, old Sir Lima announced at that wedding that henceforth a Lima marriage would not be valid unless performed by Rebelo. That's one of those chummy deals that's kept Hong Kong in business through the ages.

– from “Beautiful Branca,” a true story that has a few facts mixed up as far as I can tell

It started with my friend Aaron. Steve as I call him. He's from a Jewish family. Reformed. He's big on cooking. Gardening. Real nature buff. Knows plants by sight. He loves Woodstock. When he suggested I go camping up there with him I was all for it. I'm usually up for anything.

– from “Woodstock,” a life story based on true life, namely the author's

Love is the answer...

Are you a eunuch?

The art show that defies abuse

Still Life, Patriarchy

Contemporary wall art to remind us that Father always says Father knows best

To promote democracy, the strong must empty themselves of their strength. The weak must be granted the opportunity to grow strong. We cannot force the end of patriarchy. To do so simply perpetuates feudalism under a different name.
