Understanding the world from all angles...

Help Prevent Stalking With ArtOne of Margo's pictures from our trip across Europe.

Strength and dignity are her clothing...

Proverbs 31:25

Author's Note: I have been enjoined from sharing the details of my true romance adventure until such time that the other party is prepared to present her perspective on the affair arrangement...Pointer

One week after arriving in Europe, I met a woman in the sauna on the ground floor of the large villa she shared with her ex-husband. Four weeks later she was sharing a small rain-soaked tent with me in Vienna, our little gas-fired stove barely capable of boiling a cup of water. It wasn't until we reached Croatia that we decided to invest in a large electric kettle. It was quite the luxury and it made me very happy.

Though as an artist I had been working on body acceptance since the start of my career, and as a one-time practicing figure model was used to being nude in a social setting, I had been left largely unexposed to the community of naturists and nudists working towards the same goal of promoting the human being. Visiting nude beaches and resorts along the East Coast and participating in events organized around New York by Young Naturists America, I was left hungry for more and had come to Europe to see things from their side of the pond. Margo was my introduction.

Being from America, all I had to do in Europe was turn on the radio to hear an American song. All I had to do was walk into a movie theater to see an American movie. To be understood all I had to do was speak English. Being from Poland, she couldn't stand listening to the radio for all the political nonsense being bandied about. She didn't like watching American movies because she claimed they all ended the same way. She didn't want to speak English with me because she not only wanted to say things correctly but she wanted to say them her way and nobody had ever succeeded in teaching her how. I desperately wanted to understand. She wanted to be understood.

Do unto others as you would have done unto you. But how to judge what we would want done to us if we've never been in somebody else's shoes? If we've never been abandoned by our mother, how do we treat somebody who has? Somebody who seems to constantly suffer the repurcussions of it? Margo and I had 46 days and 6,000 miles to try on each other's shoes. We had one car and one tent in which to hear each other's words. We learned to cooperate. We started learning how to listen.

During our trip across Europe, Margo very bravely opened up to me and to the camera. It was a difficult thing to do considering the scars that she carries. I wanted to share with the world her often joyful, often sad, often angry but always liberating experience except that the Internet is full of pictures of naked women and men and full of trolls who abuse them.

I realized that what I really need to point out is not the openness that Margo and I cultivated between ourselves, but the darkness that continues to surround us. When I censor nudity, I do so in a way that does not compromise the integrity of the human body. In censoring the photographs that Margo and I took during our trip, I was quick to notice that in those pictures where Margo was at her most open, at her most unguarded and most relaxed, in a word, when she was herself and basking in the sun I was forced to blacken her completely.

Why does our society drive people into darkness? Why can we not accept ourselves as we are? Why can we not accept our bodies? Have we truly become eunuchs? Or are we capable of defying the sickness that pits us against each other? Together we could conquer the devils that abuse us.

Whether you enjoy being nude or not, whether you've been photographed nude or not, but especially if, for you, like for Margo, it's something you never thought you would do, consider submitting your own photograph to be published in a censored manner as a form of protest against the ubiquitous presence of the human body on the internet, naked or not, that is published and duplicated ad infinitum without context and without regard for the identity or the needs of the individual being depicted.

Michal's Dictionary:
Sci Fi

Each successive pillar of culture is built upon the previous one. Just as you cannot have Saturday without Friday, you cannot have a strong military without successful children. You can't have successful children without good science. Proper science requires a strong and confident body politic to accept its conclusions. A strong body politic, a peaceful assembly, is made up of strong families. A family is built upon labor. Labor is guided by art.

Good art is a good idea well expressed. A victory over oblivion. Carry that thought down the line. Efficient labor sows the fruit of capitalism. The members of a loving family pray to each other. A just constitution keeps the assembly focused. Science studies movement. Education inspires children. Children grow strong and defend our freedom. Democracy thrives.

Our problem is not that we lack a strong army or smart teachers or scientists or political dialogue or money or prayer. Our probem is that nothing ties it together. Our culture is unraveling. We have business executives who only care about the bottom line. We have church leaders who only care about the good name of the church. We have politicians who only care about getting re-elected. We have artists who only care about their self-expression.

Our pillars of culture have climbed quite high. Yet there's nothing but hot air at the top. There's no roof over our heads. We're exposed. Either nobody taught the people at the top to listen to each other or the only way to get to the top is by not listening. Don't say nobody taught us how. Whenever people try we crucify them. That has to change. We need to accept the fact that we are building this church of Man together and it needs a roof.

We need to bridge the pillars of culture.

Samples of Fiction from The Gospel of Jesus H.

A picture of the planet Mars

An experimental science fiction Christology that makes Jesus the hard boiled narrator of his own early years on a bizarro earth made dark by volcanic ash and informally ruled by a man from Mars who sells bottled air.

Going off on my own for a while, I encountered a medium-sized fly agaric. Its bright red-orange cap was fascinating and poisonous. Wondering what it was like to eat it, I pondered its colors for a brief time. Then I left. Continuing through the straight rows of wood, I passed another fly agaric, this time a smaller one. I didn't like it. I kept my eyes on it while I walked. When I turned my head, there was a spider's web right in front of me. I stopped. Turning left, there was another spider's web right in front of my eyes. Undaunted, but upset, I turned around and walked a few paces. There were spider's webs all around. Turning south, I went back to that small specimen of fly agaric. I stomped it into the ground. I crushed it, but I didn't kill it. I went south until I found that medium-sized fly agaric whose bright red-orange cap had fascinated my imagination. I kicked it, shooting it off into the distance, leaving it alone and uprooted for the elements to wear away, for the bugs and mean things to eat it, for the inevitable onset of decomposition and hastened death.

Verse 14 from the chapter called Bohemia

Most importantly, we gained a culture of wealth. Music, art and poetry must have a cost. The higher the cost, the better the art. After all, musicians need instruments, sculptors need rock, and poets need to travel. They must be well fed, and thus the Golden Age of each and every nation has been built on gold. Poeta nascitur, et fit. Alexander was made on the slopes of Mount Pangaion. Poland's Golden Age was built on grain, traveling by raft or barge - or even (in the case of a real entrepreneur) by skiff - down the great Vistula River, which took its golden rye by twists and turns and dangerous spring waters into the great city of Danzig. The great age of mercantilism it was! Renaissance of trade and culture! In Poland, safeguarded by the great magnates and latifundia: may they come to reign again! This time, with machines!

Verse 148 from the chapter called Childhood

The acute asthmatic attack is alarming both for the sufferer and for the onlooker. There is acute difficulty in breathing, and the chest assumes a more and more inspiratory position. Despite the severe respiratory difficulty, the patient remains fully conscious.

Verse 37 from the chapter called Adolescence

From my seat in the middle of the booth, my view was unobstructed. I was gazing upon divine grace: the ultimate of mortal gifts - penultimate Gift! purest Womanhood! I was looking at Man's consternation, his pride, his instrument in Man's quest to be like God: to create! to love! to hold! But I did not yet know it. I was blinded by honor's undignified lust for vengeance. I sought my own brand of justice in that choked and choking room of self-conscious amusement, otioseness, and strife. I wanted to conquer, my child, not love. I looked upon that lovely figure with calculated intentions. I did not see her loveliness; I ignored her life, her needs, her desires, her hopes and dreams - they were unimportant. I saw myself and my own needs only, no matter what I claimed or thought I felt. I was not unimpaired; I was drunk: impatient: rushed by my own winds - not what I considered - and seriously so - to be the winds of destiny. Those were only breezes, unpredictable movements of air: the erratic impulses produced by circumstances in the landscape; they were not to be trusted. They were only whisperings - and if destiny had anything to do with them, they were only destiny's advances: wafting forward ideas and intimations, proposals, and the probability of misapprehension.

Verse 432 from the chapter called Bohemia

I wondered if she were baptized. I had wanted to ask her that at one point, but I stopped myself. It hardly mattered in the case of a girl so alienated from the Divine that she could seriously (or, perhaps, mockingly) contemplate whether God be an ant and then indulge in the fantasy. It was fascinating. There was so much I wanted to ask her, but I needed time - time and the delicacy it brings.

Verse 941 from the chapter called Bohemia

Samples of Fiction from Sex for Children

A drawing of a man between a woman's legs in front of another man in a hospital bed

A literature book narrated by a pair of siblings on either side of the Atlantic whose profoundly weird sexual experiences pose a serious challenge to their traditional understanding of mathematicians, marriage, gay young men and God.

We must've been on a bed or something - but of course, my consciousness was a part of the wall or the headboard: I didn't actually see myself. But the closest thing to me was a giant mound of hair on top of a pillow, then a woman's bare back arching before me: a beautiful back (not without resemblance to Indiana's - which, strangely, is how I think I must have envisioned...everything) spreading before me: the long elegance of a woman's back being tied off with a garter belt: black, of course; it was followed by two generous lumps of sugary flesh; but then, immediately: Nike's naked body - also something never witnessed, and for which I must have used myself as a model (and not to Nike's detriment).

– Title 3, Regarding a Dream, Chapter 2, The Second Day, Part 1, Labor & Economic Reform, Section 16, Dealing with Medicines and Illness, Paragraph 2, Clauses 7-9

So, by the time he reached my groin, I have to admit: I was rock-hard. But that doesn't mean anything. My own hand will make me rock-hard - it doesn't mean I want to make love to it. And I certainly didn't want to make love to Giovanni. I didn't want his giant penis in my mouth or up my ass. I didn't want my humble penis penetrating any part of his body whatsoever. And that's why I told him to stop. I told him kindly, respectfully, and firmly: stop. And, however disappointed he was, he did respect my wishes. That was the end of that.

– Title 3, Regarding a Dream, Chapter 5, The Fifth Day, Part 1, Greenery & Land Reform, Section 3, Explaining Things Honestly in an Incomplete Way, Paragraph 4, Clauses 19-29

Like streams of consciousness converging, former thoughts and current questions began flooding my mind. My heart was in danger. I took a deep breath and I held it in my chest, as if to reinforce the floodgates cradling my heart. I had to protect her from being overwhelmed by my sick and moiling stomach, or the storm clouds of my mind. I began a deep and steady breathing, calmly pumping away the feeling with my diaphragm, blowing out my nose, trying to dissipate my thoughts. But my thoughts - even without the weight of feeling welling up against me, pressuring my soul, churning my stomach - these thoughts were not dissolvable. They would not go away, and how could I let them infuse my heart? that fountain of dangerous feeling? that chemical dynamo that would send them shooting to my throat - give them voice! - no! that would send them bursting through my mouth in sentences of self-destructing rancor - an explosive solution, one which I would not allow to break my stony face.

Bullets whizzing by a statue of Nikola Tesla

A collection of stories featuring a sexy Parisian ghost, a spooky Moon base full of vagina-faced aliens, a policeman with an Irish name, a truck full of watermelons, a flautist, and a man who has to see another man about a diseased horse.

"Are they able to speak human language?"

"Eventually. Their ability to speak their native tongue is impaired. They lose a few liquid sacs. It's painful. It takes a lot of discipline to make it worthwhile."

"I'm surprised anybody would try."

– from “Dirty Manga People Are Disgusting,” a spooky story about what happens when people don't listen

"I can't wait for the animated version."

"I was getting to that. Scientists reconstructed her face from what were supposedly her bones. It was all over the news. The boys in there think I look like her."

Shephard smiled. He leaned in close. He inhaled. He whispered, "You don't smell so bad either." Pepsi giggled.

– from “Two Dudes and a Chinese Desert,” a friendship story featuring a man in uniform

Junior admired golf. It took an amount of discipline he lacked in regard to women. He noticed similarities between the sports. In each case, though it was possible to play with teams, the goal remained essentially one of individual accomplishment. A man had to use his club to get the ball, or the contents of his ball, into the hole.

– from “A Horse Named Clutch Bag,” an inspiring story featuring a bunch of horses

Luka took a short cut. He turned abruptly onto the Route du Point du Jour à Bagatelle. He reached the cul-de-sac. Long green lawns glimmered through the trees. He veered onto the Route de la Longue Queue. He would shadow the Reine north. He could reach the Boulevard. Avenue Charles de Gaulle would be a stone's throw away.

There she was. She was on the right side of the road, waiting to cross. Luka slowed. He stopped in front of her. He looked into the back. Nike was still unconscious.

– from “Paris Is For Rapists, Too,” a ghost story featuring prostitution

When Shephard regained consciousness, he couldn't see. He was blindfolded. His hands were tied. He was in the back seat of a car. Shephard concentrated on the road. It had to be the desert highway. He was sure of it. No other road could be so smooth. His driver had made a point of mentioning it. The sun was to Shephard's right. It was sunset-no question about it. They were heading south. They turned west. They were heading towards town. Shephard heard vehicles. It was the traffic circle. They turned right. They were entering an Uyghur neighborhood.

– from “Two Dudes and a Chinese Desert,” a friendship story featuring a frank discussion of what China is doing in its western provinces

A real play. With drama in it. Talk fast. It takes two hours. Set in a guest house. In a small community. After a murder. Lots of suspicion. The characters learn to listen to each other. It's funny.

FLETCHER: What do you know about it, pig farmer?

GREY GOOSE: Raising hogs teaches respect for discipline. I know what you've been doing. You've been putting the moves on Luke's wife: shame on you.

FLETCHER: There's a good explanation for that.

GREY GOOSE: All you've learned around here is how to chase girls.

FLETCHER: As if you never chased.

GREY GOOSE: I stopped when I found one I wanted: a woman who loved me back. You're too stupid to do that, aren't you?

MS. JACKSON: Grey Goose.

GREY GOOSE: She loves you, you idiot.

MS. JACKSON: Husband.

Samples of Fiction from Miscellaneous Dingbats

The title of the book at the end of a string of miscellaneous dingbats

A story book full of short fiction stories. An interesting bedtime mystery. A fairy tale. Science fiction romance. Adult life. Uninspiring gay fiction. Horror.

Orbitz Number One left. Orbitz Número Dos took a long look at Orbitz Nombre Trois. "The radiation on that swab," he said. "It matches the molecular composition of the ship's engine. I'm the saboteur. The creature called me on the intercom right before the engine blew. She wanted to know why I locked her in the gallery. Except I didn't remember doing it."

Orbitz Nombre Trois gave Orbitz Número Dos a short glance. He looked back at the body. "You take the legs," he said. "I'll take the arms. We need to get him to port side airlock."

– from “The Death and Life of Captain Orbitz,” a science fiction romance in the tradition of Stanislaw Lem, if you know who that is

The shopkeeper never talked. The Amazon was forced to do things the old-fashioned way. He started interviewing the shop's most frequent customers. The kinder more gentle among them reported having felt a strange sense that a small trapped creature was somewhere in the area. Some of them had even gone so far as to walk around the block. The bravest had considered entering a neon building right next to the shop. They had wanted to go up to the second floor. None had been brave enough to do it.

– from “The Death and Life of Captain Orbitz,” a science fiction romance dictated by my respect for Stanislaw Lem, if you know who that is

"Sara Lee," said Orbitz Nombre Trois.

Orbitz Número Dos smirked. "She's a spy," he said. "The Amazon plants her on the ship. He knew I can't resist that blue tint. Those perfect blue nipples."

"Is she the saboteur?" asked Orbitz Number One.

"No," said Orbitz Nombre Trois. "She is innocent."

"I'm up to something, aren't I?" asked Orbitz Número Dos.

– from “The Death and Life of Captain Orbitz,” a science fiction romance written out of respect for Stanislaw Lem, if you know who that is

A gruff voice asked, "Can I help you?" There was a moment of silence.

Orbitz spoke. "I'm here for it," he said. More silence. The shuffling of feet.

The gruff voice asked, "What?"

"You're the shopkeeper, aren't you," said Orbitz. "I hear you have an assistant."

It's natural to hide dirty things. They're embarrassing. But we need to keep in mind that when we hide things that are difficult, we make them seem dirty when they're really something else entirely. And when we keep things that are easy in plain sight, we make them seem clean when they really aren't. That is dangerous.
